Wedding: Paul + Carla Westbrook

It was a cold Fall October morning when Paul & Carla arrived for their Engagement Session at Fox & Hounds Restaurant in Richfield, Wisconsin.  The trees were orange in color and offered a magnificent backdrop.  We made a stop at Holy Hill Bascilica, then headed to a quaint apple orchard on the side of the road.  Paul was shy at first, but quickly warmed up after I gave him a couple inappropriate posing directions to break the ice and then he had me rolling in laughter with stories from his work. Besides the laughs, delivery of several large canvas prints given as Christmas presents, lots of emails, spending time discussing wedding time lines and the "must-have" images during brunch at Taylors People's Park restaurant in Waukesha and meeting the whole family, Carla's son and daughter, Braxton and Elyse, I feel I've become more than just their Wedding Photographer, I've entered into their "Circle of Trust" - movie quote from "Meet the Parents".

Paul & Carla got married this past Saturday at Milford Hills Hunting Club in Johnsons Creek, Wisconsin.  Rain was in the forecast, but was replaced by warm, sunny weather, cool breezes, yellow and pink puffy clouds graced by the sublty of the orange golden skyline. As Carla & Elyse had their hair done earlier in the morning, Paul and his rowdy brood went a-hunting, ending with successfully capturing a frog.  Like a scene out of a movie, the wedding preparations and the Milford Hills Hunting Club staff were on point.  Mimosas, water jugs with lemon & finger sandwiches were laid out for snacking.  The venue was decorated with beautiful flowers and rustic touches.  The ceremony site was lined with white chairs, a long pathway that led to a gazebo overlooking a glassy lake and rolling hillsides. The bride wore her dream dress with meticulous sparkles and beaded touches, donned by her cowboy boots, especially polished by Paul, Carla was ready to walk down the aisle to her awaiting husband to be.  The family and friends listened and witnessed the "I DOs" followed by a tractor pulled hay ride for the bridal party.  Paul located a John Deere tractor and wanted to have a picture taken of them to pay respect to Carla's Grandfather, who passed two weeks before their wedding day.  It's their love, respect and thoughtfulness for each other that will last hold these two together for the tide of time.  The toasts were heartfelt.  The choice of plated steak, pheasant or mushroom raveoli was not only large portions, but mouth wateringly delicious!

Paul & Carla were surrounded by their family and friends that love and support them.  Capturing their love story for the day was easy and effortless.  The day went by fast, but by living in the moment, I believe I was able to tell the story of their Big Day.  Years from now, when they look back at their wedding day, I hope they feel the same emotions they felt on the day they became husband and wife.  Congratulations Paul & Carla!  I look forward to many more years of hanging out with you guys and capturing your family moments in Oconomowoc, woc woc.
